01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Diners who tried the ham and cheese toast have praised its nicely toasted bread and well-balanced coffee. The menu also includes Bacon & Cheese on Toast with pizza sauce, as well as Pizza Toast topped with bacon, onion, green pepper and cheese. For breakfast, there are options ranging from a simple sweet slice to a more generously topped toast.

The egg sandwich combines boiled egg and mayonnaise with lettuce and cucumber. One diner described it as a particularly memorable choice. Ham and vegetable sandwiches are also available, and the menu lets you choose whether to have your bread fresh or toasted.

Siphon-brewed coffee is available in robust or mild styles. For a closer look at the coffee’s aroma and flavour, consider a single-origin Brazil or Kilimanjaro. Alongside classic kissaten coffee, the drinks list includes Viennese coffee topped with whipped cream and yuzu tea made with yuzu marmalade diluted with water. For something sweet, there is banana bread with banana and nuts, plus soft-serve ice cream in vanilla or matcha. Coffee Zenzai pairs coffee with ice cream, azuki beans and mochi. It makes a good pause centred on a drink, or a chance to linger over dessert after a light meal.

Breakfast is served, and some diners have stopped in for coffee and a light bite before or after visiting Kinkaku-ji. The café is open on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and Saturdays and Sundays, from 8:00 to 17:00. Payment is cash only.
